I've been wanting to make this sculpture for many years but didn't have the technical skills, so I'm glad that I was finally able to finish it. It started as a project for getting better at Marvelous Designer two years ago because I've been obsessed with this dress ever since I first saw it, and I had a rough, semi-realistic model (who looked nothing like Kirsten Dunst) supporting it. Starting from that point with Kirsten bogged down the process immeasurably because the stylization came in tiny bursts rather than broad shapes right from the start (see second-to-last image).
She was sculpted in ZBrush and retopologized in Maya. I learned some Substance Designer for the veil, used Marvelous Designer for the dress and fabric flowers, Mari for skin texturing and XGen maps, Substance Painter for texturing everything else in the scene. Rendered in Marmoset.
